EVERYONE AT GFP KNOWS THE POWER OF BOOKS TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE, AND ENTERTAIN.

To transport us into newly imagined worlds and to gift us new perspectives, as well as to affirm ourselves through characters and plotlines that reflect us and who we are.

In that spirit, once again we've joined forces with the Tacoma School of the Arts to support their student-led effort to build a collection of titles that will equip them with ways to engage in meaningful dialogue about the history of race and systemic expressions of racism.

With content reflecting a full range of minority experiences, emotions, and themes written by Black authors, this library is intended to plant the spark of activism in our youth as well as to offer a deep sense of belonging for every reader.

WILL YOU DONATE?

Two minutes and $15

That’s all it takes to contribute to the creation of this beautiful, student-led library. The students themselves selected all the books on the wish list, and GFP's goal is to provide them with one hundred books. By purchasing a book at this link, you are not only benefiting the students, but also supporting a Black- and female-owned independent bookseller.

Thanks for being a part of Girl Friday, and thank you for rallying to support this book drive! Please share far and wide so that we may ensure these students get the library of their dreams!

Tacoma School of the Arts (SOTA)

In 2020, a high school history teacher founded a donation-based Anti-Racism Lending Library at the Tacoma School of the Arts public high school. Since its grassroots inception, the library has become a project spearheaded entirely by students, who curate and manage the library and associated book club events.
